Support for the body’s natural defences
Rasayana herbs and fruits used for generations to support everyday resilience.
In Ayurveda, the body’s resilience is linked to ojas, described as the refined essence of good digestion, sound sleep and a balanced mind. Strong agni (digestive fire) is considered its foundation: what we eat must be digested well to nourish the body.
Supporting the body’s natural defences is therefore approached broadly: seasonal eating, sleep, movement and the regular use of rasayana herbs and fruits.
Ayurveda adjusts habits with the seasons. In cooler, damp months, warm cooked food, spices such as ginger and black pepper, and herbal teas are favoured. In hot months, cooling foods and fruits such as amla are preferred.
Good sleep, regular meals, daily movement and staying hydrated matter more than any supplement. Herbal products can support these habits; they are not a substitute for medical care or vaccination.
Ayurveda uses both single herbs and multi-herb formulations. Here is how they differ and how to compare them.
Sour, cooling and rich in vitamin C, amla is one of Ayurveda’s most important rasayana fruits. How it is eaten, preserved and used.
Amla, giloy, tulsi, turmeric, mulethi and pippali are among the most widely used.
In Ayurveda, ojas is the refined essence of healthy digestion and living, associated with strength and resilience.
